Now that the cat is out of the bag, I know you’re wondering where I’m traveling to. Drum roll please… Southeast Asia!
According to Wikipedia, Mainland Southeast Asia consists of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar (Burma), Thailand, Vietnam, and Peninsular Malaysia. While the Maritime Southeast Asia countries include Indonesia, Philippines, East Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, and East Timor.
I intend to visit all of the mainland countries as well as Singapore and Indonesia. However, I may visit more (or less) destinations as my plan is to go with the flow. I have nothing definite yet, other than a flight booked on October 17th from New York to Bangkok, Thailand!
Southeast Asia
At this point it looks like I’ll be spending my first week abroad in Singapore teaching AcroYoga and the following two months exploring Thailand. I’m trying to be flexible so instead of when and wheres, I have who and whats. The things I’d like to do during the first half (quarter?) of my journey are below.
- Hang out with elephants
- Continue training in Thai Massage
- Learn to Scuba Dive
- Elephants, did I mention elephants?
- Climb mountains
- Chase waterfalls
- Lay on beautiful beaches
Rough life, I know.
Now I mentioned my departing flight at the top of this post, but this is not a one way journey. I have a return ticket booked, bringing me from Bangkok back to NY, on December 22. A promise I made when planning my travels, was that I would be home with family for the Christmas holiday. While I am definitely searching for the endless summer in Asia, I also really love winter (and my family). Growing up and living in the Northeast you start to enjoy the cold, the snow, and the plethora of outdoor activities. I’m an avid snowboarder and I’m pretty stoked to get a couple days on the mountain while I’m home.

After the New Year, I will be assisting an amazing retreat, called The Yogic Reset, in Costa Rica. I’m hoping to explore the country a little more this time. Last year I only had 1 week there and the whole time was spent in the beach town of Santa Teresa. While beautiful, I want to see more of what Costa Rica has to offer. I’m looking into WWOOFing, as well as volunteering on an animal sanctuary where I can hang out with sloths!
